Program Overview & Enrollment
Understand how to receive coverage from the RiskRelease program.
Overview
When you signed your lease, you also signed a Liability Waiver Addendum. This addendum outlines that the required coverage for liability in the event you accidentally cause community property damage due to your negligence will be satisfied through enrollment in the RiskRelease program. This means you are not required to provide renters insurance in order to move into the community.
If your lease agreement does not include a Liability Waiver Addendum, you may not be eligible for the program at this time. Once your lease is up for renewal, the renewal agreement will include the addendum, and you’ll be eligible to enroll at that point.
Enrollment
If you are in an affordable housing unit, you must notify your property if you would like to opt in at any point during your lease term.
For all other units, no action is required. You will be automatically enrolled in the RiskRelease program at lease start or renewal and will begin receiving coverage for a small monthly cost.
Your community may offer the ability to opt out by providing a compliant insurance policy to our team. If you have this option, please check out the Policy Requirements 👉
Offerings
RiskRelease meets the requirement to carry liability coverage (for example: $100,000) in the event that you, as the resident, accidentally cause community property damage due to your negligence. This coverage applies only to specific “covered perils”. These are the types of events or accidents that the program protects against. In this case, covered perils include:
-
- Fire
- Smoke
- Explosion
- Sewer backup
- Water discharge
For full details, please reference your lease agreement.
Please note: RiskRelease is not a renters insurance program and does not have a policy declaration page. It does not cover theft, burglary, or damage caused by intentional acts.
